With shaky fingers, my first post

Well, I am finally going to enter the blog world. I have been reading and lurking blogs for more than 10 years. I have been very inspired by many blogs and hope that maybe mine will inspire others.

Come on in and welcome to my home. I am going to share a few photos of my Edwardian home.  I was lucky enough to buy my dream house last year. And believe it or not, it was directly across the street. The front is hidden by some 100+ year-old magnolia trees planted on each side of the walk, thus the blog name, “Hidden Magnolias.”

Before I take you on a quick tour of our home, I want to call out some of my favorite bloggers who have inspired me over the years:

Rhoda at Southern Hospitality is always full of creative, innovative ways to decorate and make something out of her nothing. I have been reading her blog since 2007 when she was living in Birmingham, AL. I have enjoyed her amazing 1979 Fixer-Upper Renovation Journey. She has taken a simple uninspiring 1979 house and turned it into a warm, inviting and delightful home. Rhoda has a great eye for mixing colors, styles, and thrifting finds into unique treasures.

Susan, over at Between Naps on the Porch is another long time favorite. She and I share the same disease, “House Voyeurism.”  Her blog is full of marvelous Houses. She also puts together some amazing tablescapes, week after week. Maybe one day I will be brave enough to join her weekly tablescape party.

And finally the newest blog I discovered is Kim at SavvySouthern Style. Kim’s home is inspirational, a wonderful blend of old, new, reclaimed but it is very creative and cozy.

I call my house, Kate’s House because Kate, my grandmother’s first cousin, was the last relative to live here.  Come on, let’ take a quick tour.

One of the huge magnolias in the front yard. Trust me, these guys are massive.

Front of house, what you can just barely see from the main road.

Thanks for stopping by and do come again.

    1. Thanks Cathy, they are called "blog entries." best way to view the last entry is to bookmark site and check back often -- that is until I figure out how to add a "notifiy by email" option to the page.
