What a Difference Paint Can Make, Part II

Image
When we moved to Kate's House, I decided to make the guest bath, the horse bathroom. It is a nice room, but lacked snazz.  It had basic, boring white paint on the walls. What is needed was some color to freshen it. Here are before pictures. Blah. Off to Home Depot I go.  I finally settled on  Martha's Stewart's Beach Sand MSL232. With paint brush in hand, it begins. I am liking it. Here is the finished product. The old bits were found in the various out buildings that came with the house. I just had to use them. I bought this picture years ago for my very first apartment. It proudly hung over the only piece of furniture I had in the living room at that time - a classic white sofa from Rich's. You Atlanta girls know that dates me, doesn't it? I bought these two pictures at Boxwoods 8-9 years ago, because they featured horses and because the frames are made of such a pretty wood. This love

Mouse in the House

Image
How can something this cute be so hard to kill? I wanted to make muffins and when I pulled the muffin pan out of the drawer under the stove, this is what I found. Mouse evidence!! While contemplating the impending doom of the mouse in my house, all I could think about was all of the mice that I loved as a child.  Mickey Mouse Mighty Mouse Tom and Jerry And my all time favorites, Pixie and Dixie . (Aren't they cute?) Not to mention one of my favorite childhood books. Nevertheless, a trip to Lowe's was made and I procured these death devices. I don't like the idea that I have to get rid of him, I don't like it at all. But he must go and this guy is absolutely no help. Now, do I have the nerve to put out the traps? Nope, this is a job for the husband person. I think I will go watch Downton Abbey reruns.

Equestrian Style

Image
This past fall, we saw a resurgence of Equestrian Style in fashion.  It is a style that comes and goes as a fad through the years. But people who have this style and love this style couldn’t care less about trends and fads. To them it is a way of life. Equestrian style is synonymous with the beauty of horses, the tradition of hunting and the triumph of winning races. Three Chimneys Farm, Kentucky Equestrian, or as it is often called, Hunt Country Style  is significantly different than “cowboy chic” or “western ranch decor.” Pinterest Houzz.com You can't nail horse art on a wall and call it a day. There is a real finesse required to get this look right. Think clubby, old world feel. Houzz.com Houzz.com The style still uses color, so unlike today’s use of pasty pastels and neutrals to the point of bland and boring.  Houzz.com Tack Room, the Polohouse The colors are rich and traditional.  Hunt Country St

Timeless Toile

Image
I absolutely love toile. If I had my way there would be toile in every room of my house. However, hubby isn’t a big fan, so it is limited to a small upstairs bathroom. Toile fabric comes in so many luscious colors and interesting patterns. While most of think abut toile to give a French Country look, it can be used in any room, any decorating style.  Houzz.com Pinterest Pinterest Pinterest Pinterest Pinterest Houzz.Com Houzz.Com Pinterest Toile is a classic and we have all seen it on fabrics. Doing a little web searching I uncovered some interesting uses of the toile pattern. http://www.wellies.com.au/toile-hunter-boots.html Pinterest Etsy.com CoutureAllure.com I think I need some of the items above. No, correct that, I need all of them. Do you like toile? Comment below by clicking the pencil icon.
